Government Reminder – Taxes = Civilization

by Judson Crabb With the collective heads of the media industrial complex exploding about the release of President Donald Trump's taxes, I thought it might be a good time to reexamine a few of the quality government programs our tax dollars go to fund. Keep in mind, this list is nowhere near exhaustive and only covers certain expenditures which have been publicized to some degree over the last decade (parenthetical notations are included by the author and are in no way an attempt to shape your opinions on these critical issues). $50,000 on television commercials promoting Christmas Trees at Christmastime (a novel concept)$150,000 on yoga classes for federal bureaucrats (can any of them touch their own toes?)$188,000 on a study attempting to figure out why Americans do not want to u...

The Core of Austrian Theory

by Llewellyn H. Rockwell Jr. [This essay is a selection from "Why Austrian Economics Matters."] The concepts of scarcity and choice lie at the heart of Austrian economics. Man is constantly faced with a wide array of choices. Every action implies forgone alternatives or costs. And every action, by definition, is designed to improve the actor's lot from his point of view. Moreover, every actor in the economy has a different set of values and preferences, different needs and desires, and different time schedules for the goals he intends to reach. The needs, tastes, desires, and time schedules of different people cannot be added to or subtracted from other people's. It is not possible to collapse tastes or time schedules onto one curve and call it consumer preference. Why? Because e...

LONE LOUISVILLE DETECTIVE PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN BREONNA TAYLOR CASE

by the DC Patriot Brett Hankison, the only officer of the three at the scene, and the only one to be indicted for the shooting that killed Breonna Taylor on March 13 this year, pleaded not guilty to his charges during a telephone court appearance Monday afternoon.  His plea was given by his attorney.  Hankison was indicted by a Kentucky grand jury in the fatal shooting. Taylor, 26, and an EMT, and her boyfriend Kenneth Walker, 27, were sleeping during the time of the incident. Walker said the officers awakened him. When the officers didn’t respond to calls to identify themselves, Walker said he took out his licensed handgun and fired at the door. One of the officers was struck in the leg and they returned fire. The three officers fired 32 shots into Taylor’s apartment, ...

TRUMP TAXES NOT AN IMPORTANT ISSUE TO HIS SUPPORTERS

by the DC Patriot Reports that President Donald Trump has paid little or no income tax in recent years has sparked broad outrage of some rich Democrats and other people who have taken to social media to claim they paid more taxes than the president. Many took to social and created the #IPaidMoreTaxesThanDonaldTrump hashtag that began trending on Monday.  Meanwhile,  Democratic rival Joe Biden’s election campaign, seizing on the backlash, launched a pin with the words: ‘I Paid More In Taxes Than Donald Trump.’ Trump defended his record on Monday after the New York Times reported he had paid just $750 in federal income taxes in both 2016 and 2017, after years of reporting heavy losses from his business enterprises. Trump, in a series of Twitter posts, said he had paid “man...

Ron Paul Remains Unstoppable

by Jeff Deist When Dr. Ron Paul suffered a health scare during his live Liberty Report show last Friday, I was perhaps less worried than most of his friends, family, and fans. His remarkable vitality, vigor, and energy are well known to those around him, along with his penchant for exercise, clean living, and light eating. Having known him thirty years, I simply had no recollection of him ever being sick or out of commission. This is a man who had never missed a day of work or an event, at least in my memory. In my mind he was simply always there, a fixed feature of life. So my immediate reaction was to think he would be fine. As it turns out, he is fine. Even unstoppable. In Dr. Paul's congressional office during the early 2000s, his mostly Generati...
