The Media Is Now Openly Pushing Secession as the Election Nears

by Ryan McMaken It’s becoming increasingly clear to even mainstream media outlets that things are unlikely to return to “normal” after the 2020 election. No matter who wins, it is likely the losing side will regard the winning side as having obtained its win using dirty tricks, foreign meddling, or through relentless propaganda offered up by a heavily biased and one-sided news media. And if about half the country regards the winning president as illegitimate, where does one go from there? The survey data isn’t exactly calming on this issue. As reported by Politico last week, the percentage of Americans who believe it is justified to use violence to “advance political goals” has quadrupled since 2017, for both Republicans and Democrats. After all, political i...

Why is the Mainstream Media Largely Ignoring the Julian Assange Extradition Case? An Attack on a Free Press?

by the DC Patriot Why is the mainstream media ignoring the extradition case of Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange? Authored by Patrick Cockburn via Counterpunch.org, The silence of journalists in Britain and the US over the extradition proceedings against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is making them complicit in the criminalisation of newsgathering by the American government. In an Old Bailey courtroom in London over the past four weeks, lawyers for the US government have sought the extradition of Assange to the US to face 17 charges under the Espionage Act of 1917 and one charge of computer misuse. At the heart of their case is the accusation that in leaking a trove of classified US diplomatic and military cables in 2010, Assange an...

If I Ruled the World: A Dangerous Dream

by Richard M. Ebeling “If I Ruled the World,” say the lyrics in the hit song from the 1960s, the world would be a beautiful place with a smile on everyone’s face. Every man would say the world was his friend, with happiness that no man could end. No, my friend, not if I ruled the world. A nice fantasy for a daydreamer, but a dangerous plan in the hands of those presumptuous and arrogant enough to think that they could and should have the power to remake the world in which we all live. We seem to be in the midst of a tidal wave of such dreamers who are dreaming of their ability to reconstruct and redirect the social and economic affairs of the rest of us. The coronavirus crisis with its accompanying government-made economic recession has served as the catalyst for even more such dre...

Covid and the Escalation of Medical Tyranny

The coronavirus crisis has served as a powerful tool in highlighting many of the faults that previously existed in society. It exposed which politicians have an inherent need to control and which ones are guided by humility. It reminded us of the political power that lies in fear, and how crucial it is to be skeptical of prevailing narratives. It  emphasized the different economic realities for those who live paycheck to paycheck and those who benefit from economic financialization. It should also make perfectly clear the danger of handing over healthcare to the state. Already we have seen agents of the state, at various levels, seek to leverage a viral medical crisis to expand their power. Governors and local officials have sought to use vague “emergency” powers to lock dow...

Rigging The Election: Can They Unilaterally Cancel Presidential Debates?

by Daniel McAdams The Commission on Presidential Debates unilaterally - they claim - decided that there can be no more presidential debates in person so the next one must be "virtual." The Trump camp cried "foul," claiming that precautions can be taken to make it "safe." Is a unilateral cancellation of a presidential debate in the heat of an election a form of rigging the vote? Also today, the slow - but successful - slog through the courts to defeat tyrannical rule in the name of fighting a virus. God’s Kingdom and the World’s Kingdoms are Separate

by Dr. Norman Horn This article continues a series of weekly posts originally authored by David Lipscomb, an important figure in the Churches of Christ in the 1800s. Learn more about Lipscomb’s background here and here, and see other references to him on LCI here. The series is titled “The Church of Christ and World-Powers”, and it was also originally published as a series of 18 articles in The Gospel Advocate in 1866. (To read from the beginning of the series, start here.) This seventh entry of the series is the longest thus far (so stick with me!), and in it Lipscomb continues his argument that the Kingdom of God and the state (human governments) are markedly different. He brings forward more evidence from the gospels that Jesus considers hi...

The Constitutional Reckoning of State Lockdown Orders

by Ethan Yang On October 3rd NPR reported that the Michigan Supreme Court struck down Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s state of emergency and the powers it granted. NPR writes:  In a 4-3 majority opinion, the state’s high court said she did not have that authority. 'We conclude that the Governor lacked the authority to declare a "state of emergency" or a "state of disaster" under the EMA after April 30, 2020, on the basis of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, we conclude that the EPGA is in violation of the Constitution of our state because it purports to delegate to the executive branch the legislative powers of state government– including its plenary police powers– and to allow the exercise of such powers indefinitely,' wrote Justice Stephen J. Markman on behalf of...

FACEBOOK TAKES DOWN PRO TRUMP ADS BY RALLY FORGE

by the DC Patriot On Thursday, Facebook released its monthly coordinated inauthentic behavior report, including a takedown on a US campaign in favor of the Trump administration.  The head of Facebook’s cybersecurity policy, Nathaniel Gleicher, said that a disinformation campaign that came from Rally Forge, which is a U.S. marketing firm working on behalf of the conservative group Turning Point USA, was taken down. According to Gleicher, Rally Forge created 200 fake Facebook accounts, 76 Instagram accounts and 55 pages on Facebook starting in 2018, and posted comments on political topics, posing as real people while using stock photos. Topics included the 2020 presidential election, COVID-19 and praise of President Donald Trump. They also posted comments in support of trop...

PLOT TO KIDNAP GOV. WHITMER RESULTS IN 13 ARRESTS

by the DC Patriot Thirteen men were arrested Thursday on federal and state charges in connection to a foiled plot to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic governor, Gretch Whitmer, according to authorities. Six were apprehended and charged with federal crimes, while another seven were picked up on state charges, officials in Michigan said. All are members of militia groups, Whitmer said on Thursday. The arrests grew out of an FBI-led probe which began in March and focused on militia groups’ discussing the “violent overthrow” of certain government and law enforcement officials. The six suspects facing federal charges for the alleged kidnapping plot, conducted surveillance on the governor’s vacation home and detonated an improvised explosive device wrapped with shrapnel, officials said. ...

The Second Act Will Be Worse Than the First: Lockdowns Are Not the Answer

by William L. Anderson In the first presidential “debate” (I use that word creatively), Joe Biden hinted that he would order a national lockdown in order to “defeat” the covid-19 virus, and there certainly seems to be a consensus in the media and among political elites that if there is another “outbreak” of covid, then the “shelter in place” order will be the law of the land. Many businesses certainly are making plans for such an order, this time not wanting to be caught unprepared as they were last March: Grocery stores and food companies are preparing for a possible surge in sales amid a new rise in Covid-19 cases and the impending holiday rush.Supermarkets are stockpiling groceries and storing them early to prepare for the fall and winter months, when some health exp...
