Elections and Legitimacy

by James Bovard This year’s presidential election is the fourth since 2000 to be marred by either widespread allegations of voter fraud or of foreign interference. Politicians and pundits have long counted on elections to wave a magic wand of legitimacy over the reign of whoever is designated the winner. But Americans are increasingly wondering if the endlessly-trumped “consent of the governed” has become simply another sham to keep them paying and obeying.  Twenty years ago, America was in the throes of a fiercely disputed recount battle in Florida. Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Al Gore won the national popular vote but the Electoral College verdict was unclear. Florida’s 25 electoral votes would give either Gore or Republican candidate George W. Bush the 270 ...

US Color Revolution: The Not So Phantom Menace

by Tom Luongo “There is no civility, there is only politics…The Bureaucrats are in charge now…”— Senator Palpatine The Black Revolution in the US is proceeding according to script. We are into the 3rd act of it. Act I was the Coronapocalypse setting the stage for vastly expanded government powers and the systemic undermining of the sitting President. Act II was the summer of violence and fake polling data which created the illusion of a society at war with that same President for not addressing the needs of the people. Underneath the headlines the forces arrayed against Trump were building the infrastructure to ensure that however the people voted on November 3rd, the outcome was pre-determined in their favor against him. Act III is the election itself and the aftermath....

President Trump Can Win Reelection Even If Unsuccessful in Election Recounts and Court Challenges

by Adam Dick President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is pursuing recounts and court challenges in an effort to establish that Trump won the popular vote in several states that media organizations have said were won by Democratic Party presidential nominee Joe Biden. Even if the campaign’s efforts are unsuccessful, state legislators in some or all of these states, should they conclude the election in their states was won by Trump, could exercise their power under the United States Constitution to award Trump’s electors in those states entrance to the Electoral College that will vote in December on who becomes president and vice president. Thus, there is an avenue for Trump to win the presidential election even if his recount and court efforts are not successful. Most American...

Scott Atlas Offers a Very Washington, DC Apology

by Adam Dick Scott Atlas, a coronavirus policy advisor for President Donald Trump, was recently interviewed about coronavirus policy by Afshin Rattansi at the RT show Going Underground. That should be no surprise. Talking with someone at RT is one among various avenues Atlas has pursued to try to put his coronavirus policy views out for more people to hear.  It is after the interview aired that things got weird. On Sunday, Atlas apologized in a Twitter post for agreeing to be interviewed for the show. Atlas stated: I recently did an interview with RT and was unaware they are a registered foreign agent. I regret doing the interview and apologize for allowing myself to be taken advantage of. I especially apologize to the national security community who is w...

Misperceptions of COVID Risk and the Media

by Conor Norris Despite the blistering pace of the 24-hour news cycle, COVID-19 has dominated headlines since the beginning of 2020 and will continue to for the foreseeable future. But for all the time we’ve spent watching and reading pandemic media, we still don’t have an accurate perception of the risk we face from COVID-19. I am not talking about a slight misperception. People surveyed are spectacularly wrong, despite, or because of, wall-to-wall coverage of the pandemic.  Here are the stats. Among those surveyed by Gallup, on average respondents thought that just under 58 percent of COVID-19 deaths were people aged 55 and up. In reality, 92 percent of deaths fall in that age range. At the same time, they overestimate the risk for young people. Respondents ...

Mask-hating Republicans Make for a Better Road Trip

by Adam Dick Traveling around Texas, I have found that areas where election votes go strongly in favor of Republican candidates tend, during the coronavirus crackdown, to be the best for stopping for gas, food, or other shopping, or just to use a restroom. In these areas it seems I am least likely to be accosted by some person telling me to put on a mask. Indeed, often in these areas a store will not have a “Masks Required” sign on the door and employees will not be wearing masks or will be wearing them on their chins or with their noses exposed. In contrast, stops where the election votes go strongly in favor or Democrats, I have found, more likely feature “Mask Required” signs. Stores in these areas also seem more likely to have employees who have fully covered noses and mouths an...

‘Fire Fauci!’ – Trump Rally Explodes Over Coronavirus Doom And Gloomer

by Daniel McAdams As President Trump completes his whirlwind final few campaign stops, the crowds are becoming more and more vocal, responding to the president's mocking the media for its Covid obsession with a chant of "Fire Fauci!" Trump hints it's on the agenda. Also today: Fauci plays politics days before the election...and more evidence that mask mandates do nothing to prevent new "cases." No Vaccine for Tyranny

by Ron Paul The World Health Organization (WHO) recently admitted that lockdowns cause more harm than good. Following this announcement, one would have expected American politicians to immediately end the lockdowns. After all, the WHO ‘s pronouncements are considered infallible, so much so that social media sites silence anyone who dares challenge the great and powerful WHO. Yet, governors, mayors, and other government officials across the country are ignoring the WHO’s anti-lockdown position. Instead of admitting that the lockdowns were a mistake, many in the political class, which includes a disturbing number of medical professionals whose positions and prestige depend on government, claim that we cannot return to normalcy until a coronavirus vaccine is in wide use. This suggests ...

My ‘fake news’ odyssey: How I learned the media prefer narratives over facts and never tell the whole story

by Nebojsa Malic With just days left to go before a US election everyone deservingly regards as pivotal, a battle is raging over ‘fake news’ and even the meaning of words. It’s a battle I’ve already watched being fought, in another war long ago. Today, outlets like CNN would have you believe ‘fake news’ began with President Donald Trump five years ago, and that he weaponized the term against the good and honest media serving as the guardians of ‘our democracy’, or some such. Trump was the first US President to deploy the term "fake news" against his opponents. And over the last 4 years, he has brought the phrase into the mainstream, popularizing it as a smear for unfavorable, but factual coverage | Analysis by @elizamackintoshhttps://t.co/CcrzGNtdQX— CNN (@CNN) October ...

Nine Covid Facts: A Pandemic of Fearmongering and Ignorance

by Jeff Harris Ever since the alleged pandemic erupted this past March the mainstream media has spewed a non-stop stream of misinformation that appears to be laser focused on generating maximum fear among the citizenry. But the facts and the science simply don’t support the grave picture painted of a deadly virus sweeping the land.  Yes we do have a pandemic, but it’ a pandemic of ginned up pseudo-science masquerading as unbiased fact. Here are nine facts backed up with data, in many cases from the CDC itself that paints a very different picture from the fear and dread being relentlessly drummed into the brains of unsuspecting citizens.  1) The PCR test is practically useless According to an article in the New York Times August 29th 2020 testing for the Cov...
